If you receive an email claiming Michael Jackson has attempted to commit suicide, don't click on the link! Experts at SophosLabs™, Sophos's global network of virus and spam analysis centers, have warned of a spam campaign that claims that Michael Jackson has attempted suicide in an attempt to lure innocent computer users into being infected by a Trojan horse. The spam email has the following characteristics:

Liverpool Allowed to Defend Trophy

Good news for Liverpool fans. UEFA's executive committee has decided to allow the European Champions to defend the trophy next season but they would have to do so from the first qualifying stage. That would mean they will have to play 19 matches if they are to retain the Champions League title. It would be the first time a country would have five representatives in the competition and UEFA has ensured it would be the very last time that happens. From next season, a club winning the Champions League but finishing outside their country's allocation will qualify automatically at the expense of the lowest of the clubs above them. Liverpool's presence next season means that the four other English clubs' financial share in the Champions League will be reduced as the pot is cut five ways. I think it was the right decision. The champions must be allowed to defend their title. Everton also had the right to be in the competition especially after such an amazing season for them. They rightfully earned their place and should have to make way for Liverpool. It would be interesting to see how Liverpool fare in the competition next season when they start defending their title on July 12 or 13. Knocked-out in the first qualifying round, anyone? ;)

PM Pledges to Help Top Scorers

The PM has stepped in to ensure that the top scorers who failed to get the PSD scholarships recently will be offered one in the end. He promised this after the plight of these students were highlighted in The Star recently. It was also highlighted yesterday that it took only half a point to make or break your chances in landing the prestigious scholarship since it was very competitive. I just find it sad that the PM had to personally make sure these students get the scholarships. It shows either of these two things; 1) it doesn't matter how much effort you put into getting the scholarship or if you have met the criteria for getting the scholarship, as long as you go to the press, moan about it long enough and gather enough sympathy, the PM will come in to help, or 2) the education system in Malaysia is in a total mess. Frankly speaking, I see it as both. We are just not recognising our genuine talents enough and letting other countries such as our neighbour, Singapore happily snapping them up for themselves. However, if these top scorers were really the genuine talents, they wouldn't have moaned about not getting this particular scholarship as there are so many other scholarships available for them locally and abroad. They wouldn't have needed to worry! That's why I feel that they are not the truly genuine talents that our country have to pour so much money on them. I find this comment from a reader who wrote in very interesting. At least I know I'm not alone in thinking this way.

Negaraku - Just Sing-lah!

Recently, there has been some 'smart ideas' flying around that the Negaraku should be sung at every entertainment event including before movies in the cinemas. I didn't feel it was necessary to blog about it since it would most likely just disappear as fast as it came into existence, as how such silly ideas usually do. However, the rakyat was threatened with the National Anthem Act 1965 in an article in The Star today, resulting in a fine of RM100 or jailed up to a month for those who disrespect the national anthem. I think this is just silly. Singing the national anthem does not prove that you are patriotic. Everyone has a way to show their patriotism to the country. I'm just sad that the Government had to sink so low as to threaten the rakyat with the Act. At least the Backbenchers' Club chairman Datuk Shahrir Samad had some common sense by saying "After 48 years of independence, why are we still so insecure about the loyalty of the rakyat?". Well said, indeed.

Hot & Spicy is Back!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen...KFC's Hot & Spicy is back! I guess someone in the company realised their mistake when they replaced it with the Curry Chicken which tasted awful! Sales must have slumped or something but this is definitely a smart move indeed. Well, looks like KFC is back on my menu again. :)
