Driving Myvi

I'm driving my aunt's Perodua Myvi today. Although I'm very fond of this car, I can't say I'm trilled at the thought of me finally being able to drive one. I just don't feel too comfortable driving somebody else's car. I mean, I don't mind driving someone else's car and have no problems at being able to maneuver the car or anything but I just don't feel nice driving someone else's car if I had other options. In this case, I was doing her a favour by bringing her spanking new car for its first service.

My first impression about the inside of the car is how high the seats are and how low the handbrake and gear control are. I found it a bit difficult to shift gears as I had to make an extra effort to reach either the handbrake or gear control. Next was the radio. I just couldn't find the on/off switch. I must be blind or something since this car has HUGE labellings for its audio system. I decided to poke my finger around the controls and finally got the radio to work.

The air-conditioning is good but that's what you should expect from a new car, no? I like the display panel technology which is borrowed from Toyota, which is in collaboration with Perodua. Really adds that touch of class to it. I also like the auto-locking function of the doors the first time you step on the brakes after ignition and the auto-release function when you switch off the engine. I've always wanted that function in the cars I drive. Another thing I like about the car is the silent indication that your car is locked and the alarm is armed. I hate all those "tooit...tooit" sounds. Another touch of class here by Perodua although I know of some people who would rather hear some sound indicating their cars are already locked.

Driveability-wise, it still feels very much like driving a Perodua car, something like driving a Kenari or Kancil. I still prefer the driveability of larger sedan cars which gives you a better feel while driving. The suspension is not as good compared to the Gen-2 my mom drives but this could be due to air pressure since my aunt is not quite known for inflating her tyres to the appropriate range. The pedals are really tiny (same as the handbrake and gear control). I feel very uncomfortable driving a car this size with such small pedals. I can tolerate using such pedals on a Kancil but I expected larger and sturdier pedals for this car.

I still love the servicing done my Perodua. It's doesn't take forever like Proton. It took them less than an hour and the estimated time of completion given by them is very accurate. When I took my Kancil for servicing previously, it was also this fast and hassle-free. They even provide free ice-cream this time! I wished I knew of this offering earlier. I only found out after the car was ready. :(

Will I get myself a Myvi in the future? I do not know. It seems to be the most affordable and acceptable car to me at the moment. If I do get the Myvi, I would definitely get the automatic transmission instead. Maybe I'm just not used to driving this car yet but it seems that you have to put in some extra effort just to drive the car. I do admire the Toyota Vios and other more expensive marques a lot but I guess I just have to be reasonable. For now, I will still be driving my SLK. :P

Myvi in the Flesh

Well, maybe metal is more appropriate compared to flesh! Finally, I went to a Perodua showroom to see the highly successful Myvi and I wasn't disappointed at all with what I saw. I was just so close to placing an order at that very moment! Oh wait...I forgot I don't have a disposable income yet. Guess I've to wait for awhile more before I can even come up with the downpayment! :p I was actually accompanying my aunt (along with her kids and my mom) who is considering buying the car to replace her old faulty car. Where do I start? The exterior is very classy and nice. Boot space not really very small, neither is it large...just acceptable. The seats are very, very roomy! Claims that the interior is larger than Proton Wira is actually very true. It's also very nicely designed, interior and exterior. Ahh...I love everything about the car!!! Well, almost everything. The large panel at the centre of the dashboard is kinda ugly but I can deal with it. It's not entirely ugly, just not pleasant to the eyes but my eyes can adapt. :) I'm dreaming of Myvi tonight!

Surrounded by Myvi

In my recent post, I've speculated that the Perodua Myvi will just bring bad luck whenever we're together. Today, I was totally swamped by Myvi. At every turn, there was a Myvi. It was as if they were surrounding me! Arghhh....it's the Attack of the Myvi!!!

Thankfully, no bad luck today. Phew! I have to accept it that from now on, there will be more and more Myvi hitting the roads and it was just coincidental that those two days I saw the Myvi were blighted with bad luck. Well, I was actually tailing a green one today! ;)

Anyways, I was fooling around with my Yahoo! Messenger today by setting weird away statuses. Hehehe...I had a few enquiries on what they actually meant! :P I also just realise I've completed downloading the first season of 24! Time for another marathon!

Myvi + Me = BAD LUCK?!?

Spotted another Perodua Myvi today and guess what....more things didn't work out for me today after the sighting. I'm coming to think that the Myvi and I are just not meant to be together! We seem to generate bad luck whenever together!!! :P

Reached the lab and there were so many of my labmates around (that's surprising) so it was kinda crowded. Didn't get to use the lab computer, didn't have place to be around at the lab, so I proceeded straight to my reading room. Fortunately, I was able to use the internet and do my stuff here without interruption. Then I realised it was nearly 4pm and I intended to draw $$$ from the bank since I'm kinda broke! I rushed over to the bank which is undergoing renovation and hoped they were able to process my transaction. Thinking it was today that the university put my money in, I was really hoping to get some of the money out. Unfortunately, the teller tells me there's no money in my account! Oh dear...that's horrible! Nevermind, I am still able to survive with whatever I have left at the moment. :(

Drove all the way to Pulau Tikus to get my haircut (yeah, it's kinda long already). Good, no customers. Since I felt a bit tensed and I had a slight headache, I was really looking forward to the massage while they shampooed my hair. However, I didn't get any! What?!? Alright, maybe he will do it while rinsing my hair and applying the conditioner. Rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, conditioner, rinse, rinse, towel, dry. Huh? That's all?!? I can't believe I didn't get the head message when I so badly needed it! Oh, man! Even the bad luck is spreading to my haircut?!? NOT GOOD...this is just not good!

Since I was in town getting my hair done and I had time to kill before my engagement later in the evening (which was just nearby), I thought I should take up the offer of meeting-up with a very old friend who has been quite eager to do so for sometime now. Unfortunately, I was turned down in favour of a wedding ceremony on a Wednesday night and a vegetarian menu at that! What luck! Just imagine, my plan was foiled because of a wedding on a Wednesday night! Wednesday night!!! Who does wedding dinners on Wednesday nights, anyway?!?

So, I decided to go home and catch a short nap instead before my night engagement at Coffee Bean, Gurney Plaza. Met up with some people who I've not seen for a very long time; one of them whom have yet to show us the Redang pictures taken during our visit in 2001! My headache was getting worse so I decided to order some chamomile tea. No stock! Another choice...NO STOCK! Man, what do you guys have anyway? I ended up ordering the something-orange-tea or something like that. Maybe the smell of citrus will help ease my headache. Once again, I was guilty of being a chatterbox throughout the night (yeah, the tea did help) and we ended up talking for close to five hours. I really have to work on that soon! I've to stop being a chatterbox and bring my contribution to conversations to around 20-30%!!! :P

Well, all in all...it was a day blighted with bad luck and minor misfortunes but fortunately, not all was lost. However, I will be more cautious whenever I'm with a Myvi from now on. ;)

Myvi: My Vehicle, My Vision

The new Perodua Myvi was launched by the DPM yesterday at the JW Mariott Hotel. Car-buyers and car enthusiasts alike have been eagerly awaiting for the launching of this car which is a product of a successful and continuing collaboration between Perodua and Daihatsu (a subsidiary of Toyota). The model is expected to contribute 27% of total Perodua sales. If you can't get to the Perodua site, you can read up more on the specs here.

Perodua Myvi Official Launching

Tonight will see the launching of Perodua's latest model, the Perodua Myvi. It will be an interesting model since it is the company's first 1.3 model and it will also feature safety specs such as front airbags and ABS with a price range of RM41,200 to RM51,300. Proton's TRM model which has been postponed many times is currently being heavily advertised as potentially a bigger hit than the Perodua Myvi and is persuading potential car-buyers to wait for their model and not regret by buying the Myvi. I doubt that will be the case. If the TRM is that good, why didn't they launch it in February when it was expected to be launched? Perodua has a better reputation compared to Proton and everyone knows that. Time for Proton to admit defeat and do something to change their image once and for all. Hmmm...maybe it's time to trade-in my SLK (no, not that one....I meant my Small, Little Kancil!).
