New Perodua Viva Photos

The launch of the new Perodua Viva (codenamed D18D) is inching ever closer. Here are some new spyshots of the car.

From these new Perodua Viva photos found at PaulTan's forum, we can see once again that the Kancil and Kelisa replacement model is a complete makeover from its predecessor and looks quite nice. It also looks very spacious for the passenger seats at the back compared to the Kancil and Kelisa now. Definitely much more legroom. The Ivory White model looks really stunning, if I may say so. You may choose from six four other colours for the Perodua Viva.

Here are some related articles regarding the Perodua Viva that may interest you.

Grumpy Uncle On Hong Kong Public Bus

Looks like people get easily agitated on buses. Watch this interesting and infamous video of a grumpy and inconsiderate uncle's duel with another passenger on a Hong Kong public bus. Like the Konsortium Bus Driver Abuse video, this video was made available through advancement in mobile phone technology and has been widely circulated around the Internet recently as the Bus Uncle video. English and Mandarin subtitles included.

If only people were that little bit more patient and considerate, this place would be such a better place. The uncle was eventually arrested as shown in this video. A citizen was civic-conscious enough to inform the cops whom promptly boarded the bus.

If only someone was that civic-conscious in the case of the Konsortium Bus Driver Abuse. Malaysia still has a long way to go.

Konsortium Bus Driver Abuses Passengers

I just received this horrendous video through email and it is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. If you do not see the video below, you would require a Quicktime or RealPlayer plugin or some other players to view the file which is in 3gp format. You can also try VLC, a player that can play almost any media file including 3gp formats. You can download the video file here.

This was how a Konsortium bus driver threatened his passengers in the bus. The bus driver stopped the bus halfway and took out a wooden stick to threaten two foreign passengers who were talking a bit loud but didn't think it was wrong. In fact, this driver also threw away one of the passengers' shoe in the first place because he said passengers do not have the right to take off their shoes in the bus. He also demanded the said passenger to leave the bus.

The information of the bus are as follows:

1. Bus number PFR 8862
2. The bus is from KL to Penang (departure on 29th May 2006 at 6.30pm)
3. Incident happened at 8.12pm on 29th may 2006

As a person who depends on such travel buses to commute between cities, being a very frequent passenger on these travel buses during my undergradute days and a supporter of Konsortium buses, I find this incident appalling! It is immaterial what the foreign passengers allegedly did. It is immaterial that the bus driver was having a bad day or something like that. The bottom line is this shouldn't have happened at all. It really gives us a very bad image especially when it happens to tourists!!!

So what if they did talk quite loud that probably bothered the driver since they were seated right behind him. Isn't it their right to talk? The driver could have just politely ask them to talk softer, right? And since when are we not allowed to take off our shoes on the bus? More often than not, I would take off my shoes as I feel it is more comfortable that way (no, I don't have smelly feet or stinky socks! :P). Also, I think it helps in preventing Deep Vein Thrombosis too (if I'm not mistaken).

Whatever it is, what the driver did was totally wrong and should be ashamed of his actions. If he doesn't get reprimanded for his actions, I will be truly horrified. He has no right whatsoever to do what he did in the video. If the information provided above is correct, I hope something will be done about this.

Please forward this page to your family and friends so that more will be made aware of this incident. Maybe from now on, I will seriously consider not taking Konsortium buses anymore (although I do admit this can happen to any bus company).

UPDATE: After viewing the video again and again, trying to figure out what the driver was mumbling about in the video, it seems that he was mad that the foreigners allegedly put their feet near where his head was and became livid when the foreigners kept laughing/giggling. Another passenger was heard calming down the driver and advising the foreigners not to put their legs near the driver's head. However, that still does not justify his actions.

Lakme India Fashion Week: Wardrobe Malfunction Galore

If you think Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl halftime show back in February 2004 was bad, there's something to top that now. Cue Lakme India Fashion Week. Look at this video below and see if you can spot anything wrong with the wardrobe of this model doing the catwalk.

You can see at the end of the video that Gauhar Khan, the model in the video, has a zipper malfunction and that caused her wardrobe to be undone. That must have been an awful blooper, no? If you think that was bad, look at the next video.

Now, THAT is one major blooper! Poor Carol Gracias. You can see how shocked she was from her facial expression after her top was undone on the ramp during her catwalk!!! You can see why the authorities had thought the wardrobe malfunctions were intentional especially when there were TWO instances with one as glaring as in Carol Gracias' case! Fortunately, the authorities cleared them of any wrongdoing but gave a stern warning against any such behaviour in the future.

I dread the day that such a thing would to happen in Malaysia. It would cause such an uproar and will be exploited by various parties for their own personal gain. I pray that day never comes.

Principal Playing The Race Card?

I received some really disturbing news a few days back from a fellow Old Free. It seems that the current principal in Penang Free School made some very very very racial comments quite recently. If this is true, PFS is really going down the gutters faster that we think! Before I proceed, I would like to stress that this has not been substantiated with hard evidence as yet, so we don't know if this really happened.

It is alleged that the principal made a pledge to limit the enrolment of Chinese students to the school in the future and he's ready to implement it as soon as the next intake. How the people at the Old Frees Association in Penang came to know about this personal pledge of his I really do not know but it is really down-right disgusting. As if the school is not in a bad enough state that he must compound the situation further with such insensitive and uncalled for comments!

In recent years, people realise the ongoing Malaynisation of PFS (making it more Malay) but this has been threatening to happen for some while now and bound to happen sooner rather than later. I truly do not mind that happening if all those accepted to the school are really qualified candidates thus, ensuring the school will only have the cream of the crop and maintain its position as a premier school. However, if someone has a sinister motive to limit the number of non-bumiputeras entering the school, whatever his agenda may be is totally unacceptable.

The last I know, the State Education Department is responsible for making such decisions, not the principal. The principal may have a say in things but definitely not the last word. How is it then that he's so confident of delivering such a pledge unless he's already part of a dark plot that if true, must be stopped at all cost. I'm amazed at how daring he is to make such a pledge or even think of such a thing. Isn't this the principal that is more like a ghost in the school? The principal that is hardly around? The principal that is virtually non-existent? What happened? Trying to make a grand entry now?

The controversial senior assistant went too far recently with the no parking in school policy for student cars. It's paying dividends now for his detractors (including me) as the once dormant students that he and the rest of his merry-men have taken for granted and trampled over them time and again have finally woken up. They have finally grown some balls and are taking affirmative action to fight back. You see, when push comes to shove, something is bound to give way and this time, the students' patience gave way. I wish to convey my utmost appreciation to the controversial senior assistant for helping wake the students up from the dreamy state they were in.

The same effect will happen if this controversial pledge was really made. I hear that the Old Frees are already up in arms regarding this remark of his and are ready to do anything in their power to stop it from happening. Again, when an animal is surrounded, he is bound to fight back and the Old Frees have now woken from their constant slumber and hibernation, thanks to the remarks made by the principal. I'm not sure if they will succeed or not but at least they are doing something about it. Finally, the Old Frees will do something that I can be proud of.

I truly pray that the principal didn't make such an insensitive remark even if he did imply such a thing in jest or maybe something similar to that. I pray not for PFS but I pray for him since if it is true, his fate will definitely be sealed if it comes out in the open. He has helped us give each and everyone related to the school a big tight slap on the face and help all of us realise that the school is not exactly a proud institution to be associated with anymore and things have to be done to rectify the situation fast. I truly thank him for giving us a helping hand in our efforts to turn the school around. I guess that will be his best contribution to the school.

Anyway, for his sake I truly hope this is not true and just some sick rumour. If not, I'm sure it will cause a major uproar which will not only be unstoppable but unbearable. This I promise him.

Tammy NYP Sex Video

Sex sells and oh boy, how people are profiteering from someone's plight at the moment. The now widely sought after sex video of 17-year-old Tammy and her boyfriend engaging in sexual intercourse on school grounds is probably the hottest stuff on the internet at the moment, at least for this part of the region.

This Singaporean girl who's from Nanyang Polytechnic had apparently left the school due to her sudden shot to fame (infamy?). The 10 minutes or so video clip was shot using her handphone probably for future viewing or something. I truly do not understand why someone would do such a thing. The pre-marital sex part I can still understand but why do you want to record your sex exploits? My friend did mention that he might consider that option in the later stages of his life when you would probably need that extra help to ignite that 'flame' between you and your lover. Hmmm....I'm actually wondering if he already has a stash of his own personal video recordings hidden somewhere. *ahem* :P

Apparently, the not-so-bad-looking cheerleader's handphone where that particular video clip was stored was stolen by her enemy out of jealousy for her popularity. The video clip was supposedly downloaded onto a computer and mass-emailed to lecturers and students of the school. The rest, as they say is history. A group of hackers even managed to retrive her personal details from the NYP database but it seems that the details exposed to the world were not actually hers (fortunately for her and her family).

It is rumoured to be a four part 'series' but I've personally seen only two. To be frank, there's really nothing to it and it was indeed very boring. If you are resourceful enough, you're sure to be able to find the video clip(s) on the internet but seriously, you'll probably be disappointed. I guess people are just curious when it comes to these things. I wouldn't say that all of those who sought for the video are perverts but more of those who are busybody and curious (including me :P).

I just cannot imagine how her family is taking this. Obviously she's distraught but I guess she can't complain much since she did consent to having sex and also recording of the video. If she's trying to portray herself as a victim, she should realise that she has only herself to blame. She made herself the victim. The problem for the guy however is if he will be prosecuted for having sex with a minor. Don't forget that she's only 17-years-old and that is definitely not the legal age for having sex, definitely not in iron-fist Singapore.

There's a rumour circulating that this whole thing was a plot hatched by none other than her boyfriend who has in his possession a 90-minute porno flick ready to hit the streets at the word go and they are using the handphone controversy and the ferocity of the blogosphere as a promotional tool to generate publicity that they could only dream of. Hmmm....is that person who came up with such a wild conspiracy theory on crack or what? We are talking about someone going to jail for what he has done here. How then is he suppose to profit from this kind of exposure when he's behind bars? Truly outrageous!

Well, anyway I hope everyone will finally learn from this episode. It is as if the Paris Hilton incident was not enough to teach everyone how technology can be a friend and also an enemy to us and only we can ensure if it is our friend or an enemy. Please keep your private life....PRIVATE!!!

UPDATE: It seems that the girl in the homemade sex video is considered an adult and two adults having consenting sex is not wrong at all even if they wish to record their acts for future viewing. Her 21-year-old boyfriend in the video just finished his stint in the National Service and they have lodged a police report against the person who stole the handphone and upload the sex video to the internet. Under the Films Act, it is illegal to distribute, show, import, or possess any obscene video recording, whether made on a conventional camera or a mobile phone. (updated 24/02/2006)

Apparently, the video clip was not mass-emailed to the polytechnic staff or students and the acts depicted had not taken place on the school grounds as claimed earlier. (updated 28/02/2006)

She's Malay...So What?!?

Somehow, the police abuse MMS fiasco has veered out of control and have totally lost focus on the issue at hand. How is the nationality/ethnicity important in this case? She's a local Malay and not a Chinese national. So what?!?

News did get out awhile back that the woman in the infamous MMS doing ear-squats in the nude is not a Chinese national as earlier reported but a local Malay. It was mostly rumours then but the inquiry has confirmed that she's a local Malay on the second day of their investigations. How is it that it is less wrong if it is not a Chinese national? Even if she was Mongolian or Filipino or Indian or African or Russian or Japanese, does it make the unethical 'standard procedure' less or more wrong? No!

The issue at hand still remains that doing ear-squats in the nude is totally wrong and should be discontinued. The police shouldn't have resorted to such a demeaning act in the first place. Worse still, it's not a written law/directive/procedure...it's just a 'standard procedure' that they adhere to. WTF?!? This reader hit the target with his letter to the editor when he questioned the rationale of pulling ears during squats. The other problem is, how was someone able to access the room from a window or opening and record the video-clip? Who was it behind the camera/mobile phone? What was his/her intention? To expose this inhumane 'standard procedure' or just to satisfy someone's lust?

Also, now it seems that a police officer was showed the infamous MMS some months back! What?!? And nothing was done at all? There are so many other important questions left unanswered. How is it that the nationality/ethnicity is more important than those issues? It's only the second day of the inquiry. I hope they do better in the coming days.

English Translation

I've forgotten how long it's been
Since I last heard you
Tell me your favourite fairytale
I've thought for a very long time
I'm starting to get worried
Have I done something wrong again?

You told me with tears in your eyes
That fairytales are all lies
There's no way I can be your prince charming
Perhaps you don't understand
Since you said you loved me
The stars in my sky started to twinkle

I'm willing to be
The angel you love in the fairytale
I'll open my arms wide
And turn them into wings to protect you
You must believe
Believe that we will be like the fairytale
With happy ever after as the ending

Together we'll write our own ending

Tong Hua - a song that is being played over and over in my iTunes at the moment. Well, actually also in the car, in my head and everywhere else for that matter! :P Just can't stop listening to it. I get this sad feeling while listening to this song but fulfilling in a way. I get teary-eyed everytime I watch the music video. I'm trying to learn the lyrics by hard but it's not exactly something easy to do. You see, the lyrics are in Mandarin and I know nuts about Mandarin although I'm a Malaysian Chinese. :P The English translation is helping though. :) The lyrics are just so meaningful but although I'm still unable to remember it by hard, I'm enjoying the wonderfully composed music which is just heavenly.

If you don't already know, Michael is a Malaysian singer who is now based in Taiwan and was formerly half of the Michael and Victor duet that churned out many beautiful ballads before they seperated to further their solo careers. I found a Flash music video of this beautiful song and also a comical version performed by The Dormitory Boys. Enjoy...

Malaysian Police Walk The Abu Ghraib Way

We laughed and ridiculed the Americans when the Abu Ghraib abuse story broke out. Now, they and the whole world will be returning us the favour, all because of some 'clever act' by some of our idiotic men and women in blue. If you've not heard about the biggest news in Malaysia at the moment, your excuse better be that you were lost in some thick and dark jungle, or you were in some faraway planet, cos this is some serious shit and very few will beat this as one of the most humiliating and distasteful events to plague us Malaysians. Absolutely shameful!

Nude woman ordered to ear squat

KUALA LUMPUR: A controversial video footage showing a woman in uniform instructing a Chinese-looking naked woman to do ear squats caused an uproar after it was made public yesterday.

Police have now started investigations and have lodged a report on their own.

Ministers and MPs expressed disgust with the way the naked woman was treated after they were shown the clip by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok at Parliament House yesterday.

The video clearly shows the woman standing naked in a room with some lockers to her right. The woman in uniform can be heard telling the woman in Bahasa Malaysia to pull her ears, squat and stand up. The naked woman did 10 ear squats.

The 70-second video clip is said to have been taken using a cellphone and has been widely circulated through the multimedia messaging service (MMS) over the past few days.

The person who recorded the incident did it through a grilled window.

However, the identity of the uniformed person or location where the incident took place could not be ascertained at present. It is also not known when the incident took place.

The footage has led people to link the scenes shown in it to the ordeal of four women from China at a police station recently.

The four alleged that a policewoman asked them to strip and perform ear squats in a room at a station while in police custody.

They were arrested on suspicion of having invalid travel documents in Sungai Buloh here on Nov 3.

However, the four women have denied being the naked woman shown in the video clip, saying they were on the first floor of a building without windows.

This is the latest scandal to hit the Royal Malaysian Police Force and some balls (and breasts?) better be shaking now. If those responsible think they can get away with it, they must be joking. They probably thought they were immune to the law then but how awful their stomach must be feeling now that they have been exposed. It is as if the Abu Ghraib incident had not taught these idiots that such acts are inhumane, totally unacceptable and the perpetrators will eventually face the music. Did they really think they could get away with it? I would be damn pissed if they weren't handed a heavy and deterrent punishment.

Those involved in any way to this fiasco, directly and indirectly, must be accountable for their actions (or inaction). Not only should they be charged in the court of law and put in a lockup straight away pending a trial, they should lose their jobs and pensions and never to be employed by anyone ever again. Come to think of it, why should they even bother about employment when they should be spending the rest of their lives behind bars? There should be no leniency at all irregardless if they have kids or the like. They should have thought of that before disgracing Malaysia, in general and the police force, in particular. What they have done is totally unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

If anyone still doubts it, technology has definitely given us a way to expose the dark secrets that would never have seen the light of day. The MMS clip has not only helped highlight the plight of the Chinese national but also bring to the public's attention the abuse of power that is plaguing the police force. Technology can help make sure they will always be on their toes and think twice before they break the law that they were entrusted to uphold in the first place. It is about time we feel safe living in our own country.

This is definitely not the first case that has tarnished the name of the police force and most likely, it will not be the last if affirmative action is not taken. Just recently, a blog was created to highlight the ordeal of 22 innocent Malaysians who were wrongly accused and charged for taking drugs during a raid. The police force definitely needs reform quick. Too much hanky-panky have been going on and this must now come to an end. The integrity of the force must be restored and action must be taken immediately to arrest this decline. It's good that the powers that be have expressed their shock and disgust over this episode, and support an all out investigation. I just hope it will not end as yet another NATO (No Action, Talk Only).

O Draconian Devil, Oh Lame Saint

A few days back, I finished reading the highly acclaimed novel by Dan Brown, The Da Vinci Code, a novel I've wanted to read for a very long time but didn't manage to do so until recently but thanks to my friend (and her friend), my brains received the best antidote it needed. The book is marvellous, very well written, intriguing plot, just couldn't put it down! Well, I was also motivated to finish the novel as soon as possible so I can return it (I'm not used to borrowing stuff for too long) but solving the mystery was definitely the driving force that kept me up late at night. For those who have not read the book, you can preview the first few chapters here. If you have read it and enjoyed the book, you would probably enjoy the challenges they prepared online - Web Quest and Uncover The Code. Try them out, some are harder to figure out compared to the ones in the book. Well, I don't want to brag...but I did figure out the clues in the book before getting to the answers. :P Maybe it has to do with me liking codes a lot and I learned many codes when I was young. I'm a little rusty now, though. You might get stuck when you play the Web Quest (it was actually a real competition) because you would have to call a US telephone number. I've managed to overcome that obstable though, so I did complete them both.

The book is so well written, it can be so easily adapted into a movie. The scripwriter wouldn't need to do much! Everything is already in the book! Anyway, plans are already underway to make it into a movie which will be premiering worldwide on the 19th of May 2006 staring Tom Hanks (as Robert Langdon, I presume). Malaysians can catch it on the 18th of May 2006, though. You can visit the official movie site here. Well, the reason I was so eager to get hold of the book is because I heard the news that it was going to be made into a movie and I didn't want to spoil the reading experience which everyone said 'is to die for' and I agree with that statement 100%! However, the producers of the movie claims that we will be blown away by the movie regardless of how many times we've read the novel and how we perceive the story to be like. Hmm...this I got to see. Anyway, if you've not read it, please do. You won't regret it!
