Google's Surprising Find

Usually I will use Google to check for my spelling and search for some phrases that I'm not sure of. I was looking for the term "bend over backwards" but I just couldn't remember it, so I googled. Look what Google came up with when I searched for the term "bend my back over" (without the inverted commas).

I was just perplexed at the first result Google offered. Google is well-known for coming up with the best search results and usually the top results are what you are looking for. How is this related to what I was looking for? I read the snippet and soon realised how it was connected. I had a good laugh at that find. Considering that Google indexes webpages quite frequently and webpages are reranked and rearranged after each round of indexing, this find might not be available in the future but I'll always have this screenshot to prove it. I wonder what will Google come up with next? ;)

  1. I just did a search and it came out with the same result.
Actually Google is using kinds of technique called spider web to search what we want. So it search all the words in your pages that have related to the words you search.
You will noticed how Google place the search result if you try it with your blog. Only within few days, I Penang Podcast is listed almost the full first pages. You can check out google's web site on how they do the search.

  2. i had such experience last week too! was looking for lyrics to a song, i clicked on one of the links and then walked away to help a friend with something while waiting for the page to load. later, another friend walked in and was horrified...it was a porn page. and he didn't believe my story. .. i was rather pissed at that...
