The now infamous cones erected (no pun intended) at the Jalan Udini roundabout has received more coverage in The Star today. The man-made hibiscus structures, part of the RM300k beautification project, has drawn more flak from Penangites and visitors alike, with one reader even writing in to condemn the state councillor for daring to question the intelligence of Penangites. To think that the darkness of night could have helped hide this awful thing.
ReplyDeleteThe Jalan Udini's so call sculpture or metal eye sore, is ridiculously ugly, what were the bandaraya thinking when they spend the money on it? that its funny to have stainless steel flowers? WE HAVE REAL FLOWERS YOU KNOW!!, While our money is being wasted on METAL FLOWERS the roundabout located in the most popular spots in Penang, yes the one in Gurney Drive is being left without care, and WHAT BEAUTIFUL WEED AND GRASS HAVE GROWN!!! wow, what and idiot management, take some of the RM300K and spend it on a grass cutter please!!! What a waste of the people's money, Think please, before you spend another dime of the people's tax dollars.
ReplyDeleteA better proposal for the good of Penang would be to hold a sculpture competition for our local artist and have the winning, and runner's up pieces erected all over Penang, plus the money would go to better use like helping our local artists, RM300K is alot of money to buy art materials with, instead of the money being pocketed by businessmen.
Secondly, Penang have the potential to become an island filled with beautiful sculptures, which would add to the tourism industry with beautifully build sculptures from artist locally and maybe someday, we can invite international artist to join in the effort. Its a small island and I am sure tourist would love to go around in busses or go on a mortocycle to tour our beautiful island. It can be beautiful again, just stop doing stupid things with our tax money.
And hopefully next time people visit Penang they would want to go around searching for real masterpieces all over the island, and go back to tell their friends and family about.
That was just my thought, and also stop wasting tax dollar.
very well said... :)
